The fake trailer has become reality as Eli Roth prepares to unleash the holiday-themed horror movie this November

Remember 2007? Transformers? Halo 3? Projekt Revolution? Well, that landmark year also played host to an infamously grisly double feature named Grindhouse, directed by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino. It’s a tribute to the exploitation films of old in pretty much every violent way possible, so naturally, horror connoisseur Eli Roth contributed his own little segment to it.

Along with other filmmakers like Rob Zombie, Edgar Wright and Jason Eisener who each made their own, Roth put together a fake trailer for a fake horror movie to add into Grindhouse. As fate would have it, a couple of those fake trailers wound up being made into actual feature length films, like Rodriguez’s Machete and Eisener’s Hobo with a Shotgun.

After many years of rumors and speculation and teases, Roth is finally about to deliver on the promise of his ridiculous fake trailer and bringing a brand new Thanksgiving-themed horror movie to theaters. The name? Thanksgiving. Thankskilling was already taken, you see.

This will be Roth’s first movie since the double release of Death Wish and The House With a Clock in Its Walls back in 2018. Thanksgiving looks like a nice throwback to the kind of unapologetic slasher gorefests that helped Roth make a name for himself. “After a Black Friday riot ends in tragedy, a mysterious Thanksgiving-inspired killer terrorizes Plymouth, Massachusetts – the birthplace of the infamous holiday.”

The film stars Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, Milo Manheim, Rick Hoffman, Gina Gershon and more and will hit theaters this November 17th, just in time to make a messy holiday splash. Check out the tantalizing trailer below.
