Industrial metal outfit Amerakin Overdose reactivate with energized new single, "Agastopia"

The band's first release since 2017 dissects how posturing on social media has really effed up reality.

The layoff has been long for Pacific Northwest Industrial metal outfit Amerakin Overdose. Starting out a decade ago with the self-titled debut and their sophomore full length, The Great Amerakin Dream in 2016, life and circumstance forced the band to take a pause, reconfigure, and reassess.

Add in a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic, and the timeline for an eventual return only saw more delays, further hurdles and less likelihood. Showing their collective resolve and their commitment to their craft, frontman Cody Perez rallied the band's 2015 line-up with Pito Perez on backing vocals, Brick on drums, Starbie 66 on bass and Bishop Freeman Manfree on guitar to get back to the business of making music.

The result is the band's first reveal of new material in five years with the arrival of Amerakin Overdose's latest single, "Agastopia". The energized track embraces the band's industrial sensibilities and deranged aesthetic to begin a new chapter marked by their new found resurgence.

As for the substance driving the conviction of the track, Cody Perez explains how the golden age of digital interaction has altered our reality. "'Agastopia' is an audible representation of America's obsessive fascination in fetishizing physical appearance and seducing the masses via social media with nostalgic overdose."

The release of "Agastopia" will serve as the first of plenty more content due from the reinvigorated Portland-based collective. Keep your eyes peeled.
